Pastor Joe Crain grew up in the Philippines as a missionary kid. After high school, he returned to Florida and graduated from Stetson University with a double major in Secondary Education and Social Science and added a Masters of Education in 2006. He’s been involved in worship leading since 1998 and joined the SCC team in 2005.

Pastor Joe’s passion is to communicate who God is through music. Some of his favorite authors (John Piper, Brennan Manning, Philip Yancey) help him understand God’s character in new ways, and he then seeks to share that truth with the congregation through words and melody. Beyond leading worship here in the U.S., he and his wife, Jana, believe God will call them back overseas someday to minister to missionaries and their children.

When he’s not teaching, developing team and leading worship, Joe loves to spend time reading and reflecting with his wife. He says that most of the deep things he’s learned in life have come from processing out loud with Jana and being challenged by her relational perspective. On the lighter side, Joe enjoys most sports, both watching and playing, with college and professional football being his favorites.

Joe and Jana have been married for 6 years and have two high-energy boys, Joseph (4) and Jonathan (3).
